i am gradually trying to create a single place for online notes for each course. this is taking some time as some of the notes are hand-written, some are typed and long since lost to the land of paper, some are photographed versions of chalkboard and whiteboard writings, and some are simply deep inside my head. i will start with the public exam courses whenever possible as i know your future depends on those marks.
these are all newfoundland standard curriculum courses. if you live in another province or country, these may be useful or not, depending on how closely the curriculum aligns with your own. there is additional information beyond the curriculum in certain of these notes pages and this is for students who are interested in more than what is strictly necessary to get a good mark on the course (particularly in history and english courses).
i’m not going to make this difficult for you and keep the notes for courses hidden until we get to that section in class. and i’m not going to break the course down into tiny sections, each with its own page. you can print the whole notes for the course long before you even think about going to class and you’re welcome to do so.
the environmentalist in me has to add something to that, though… if you could please only print the notes that you’re actually going to read, that would be great. thanks.
no, you don’t have to be taking the class with me to read, print, or share these notes. they are free for you to use however you like. all i ask is that you observe the copyright on them. if you are going to share them with your friends, tell them where they came from. if you are going to modify them for your own purposes, please ask me for permission first.
if you are going to use these notes with your own class, you are more than welcome to do so without asking permission as long as you do one thing – let the students know exactly where the notes came from. this is not just for my own personal gratification but there are occasionally minor errors in the notes and there are always additions to be made and if students are aware of the source, they can easily get the latest version. this will also allow them to avoid having to print more than they need, if they are comfortable studying in front of the screen, as many students now are.
you are welcome to link to individual courses directly. these links shouldn’t change. if they do, the computer will try its best to find the right page for you but, if it fails, the worst that can happen is that it will send you to the homepage and you will have to find the new link to that course. this happens occasionally as course numbers and names change and i’m a teacher who really doesn’t have the time to go in and make sure that every link to old courses heads to the new one.
assignments for my students, both past and present, are floating around in here, too. if you are a student, you are welcome to use these for practice, even if you are not in my class or even in my school. if you are a teacher, you are welcome to use the assignments with your students allowing the same caveat as above – give credit to your source as you would expect your students to do when they write for you.
